Yes that happened. Crohn's is a really glamorous disease.
Blogging is the same way. We write, some people read it, but no one pays us to do it, and if people do admit to us that they read it, they always say some sort of disclaimer like, "So I guess it's kind of creepy but I was reading your blog..." because they know stuff about our lives without actually talking to us about it.
#1 - It's not creepy to read a blog. Why would we post stuff on the internet if we didn't want you to read it? Read on! Enjoy! Waste time!
#2 - If you read the blog - thanks! You're super cool and you procrastinate super well.
However, in trying to come up with some of these ingenious and wonderfully clever posts, I inevtiably have a "bad day" - much like in running - and come up with ideas that at first seem like they could fashion some sort of viable post, but then upon further contemplation seem, well, stupid.
Here are a few gems that have clunking around in the ol' noggin:
1) Why do you blow on things to cool them down (soup), but you also blow on things to warm them up (chilly hands)? Why does the same action cause opposite results? Physics?
2) This is a shelf in my office. I may have a Kashi problem. I also have an obsession with all Tervis tumblers. Discuss.
| There was another box too. I recycled it. Four boxes in less than six weeks. |
| Cups and mugs that keep things cold and hot and also prevent the dreaded condensation "sweat" that forms on the outside of normal cups? With cute lids to boot? Yes please. |
3) Why is it totally normal to ask someone to give you a piece of gum if they have a pack? When there's a group of people around and you pull out your pack of gum, who do you offer it too? Just the people next to you? A max of five people? Why in our capitalist society does the gum-giver not expect anything in return besides a mere "thank you" and the guarantee that the people around him or her will have fresh breath?
4) I love old people in love. This video is adorable. Ultimate goal in life - these 3 minutes. All the time.
5) I would like to rank my favorite rappers in order of how sincere I think they are in terms of what they say about women in their music.
#5 - Drake - I mean, seriously he was on Degrassi:The Next Generation. He definitely respects women.
#3 - Ludacris - Although he is a respectable actor as well as a talented rapper, I'm on the fence about his personal thoughts on feminism.
#2 - Lil' Wayne - While I do find him charming, especially when he calls Katie Couric "Miss Katie", I think his respectful demeanor isn't convincing enough for him to sincerely think of women as equals.
#1 - Gucci Mane - The guy is back in jail and I have no evidentiary support for him ever contradicting the disrespectful comments he makes in his music. This does not mean that I will stop listening to said music.
I'm pretty certain no one would like me to elaborate on any of these topics. If you would, please let me know. Especially if it's the gum one. This social ritual blows my mind.
People have bad days, and that's okay. I manage by making oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. And drinking Spotted Cow. At the same time.
